(via LifeHacker.com) I read about a scary “glitch” this morning regarding the wipeout of 150,000 gmail accounts. I am not aware of any of “our” users being affected at this point. This can be a gruesome reminder of what can happen if your data is not backed up. Google provides some great services but anything can happen even with the most stable services. In the lifehacker.com article many of the readers have commented about a service I wasn’t aware of but am now trying out. Backupify.com will backup several cloud based services including gmail, google calender, and google contacts (other services like facebook also). You can sign up for a free account which allows you to backup 5 accounts and gives you 2GB of storage. This should be plenty for gmail contacts, calender, and probably email unless you save a lot attachments. Setup is very easy if you are already signed into your gmail account, just go to www.backupify.com and click signup!
Note: I am not affiliated with with backupify.com in any way it just comes as a highly recommended option for backing up your cloud data and I wanted to pass on the info
